PROGRAM CALENDAR

The Massage Institute of Memphis offers different class schedules for completing its 750 hour program: a full time day class and evening class. Class enrollment is limited to twelve. Dates and times are subject to change.

Monday, Tuesday, Thursday
6:00 P.M. - 10:00 P.M.
Two Sundays per month
1:00 P.M. - 7:00 P.M.

*Students will have 3 months from last day of class to complete all course requirements.

No classes on major holidays.

Schedule one hour per day to practice massage techniques at home on days/evenings when you are not in class, clinic or lab. Student massage labs will be held afternoons, evenings and weekends.

When Memphis city schools are closed due to inclement weather or disaster, The Massage Institute will also be closed.


ADMISSION & REGISTRATION PROCEDURES

To enroll, the student must:

  1. be at least eighteen (18) years of age or older (please provide proof of age).
  2. be legally entitled to live and work in the United States.
  3. not have been convicted of the offense of prostitution or sexual misconduct, or felony under Tennessee law. (Background check required by Tennessee for massage license.)
  4. submit a completed application form with a $50.00 non-refundable application fee. Downloadable pdf application form (requires Adobe Acrobat Reader).
  5. submit two (2) letters of reference, other than relatives, with references’ names, signatures, addresses and phone numbers included.
  6. arrange to have an official educational transcript (or equivalency certificate with scores) from the most recent school attended sent directly to The Massage Institute of Memphis. Students receiving Veterans Affairs educational benefits must arrange to have official educational transcripts sent from all prior schools attended.
  7. be interviewed as to their personal motivation, goals, financial stability, and level of dedication to completing the program. The Massage Institute of Memphis will contact you to schedule an interview after you have submitted your application and application fee.

After admission, but before registration, the prospective student must:

  1. have received one (1) full-body massage from either a graduate or student of The Massage Institute of Memphis before registration.
  2. submit a recent passport type photograph of their face.

By the first day of class, the student must:

  1. have received a physical examination from a licensed physician, who must sign a form provided by MIM.

After all requirements are met, the student will be contacted to schedule a registration appointment. Enrolled students are guaranteed access to their academic files by making an appointment with the school secretary. Students must notify The Massage Institute regarding any change in name, marital status, address, home or work telephone numbers.


TRANSFER OF CREDITS

The following is a Tennessee Higher Education Commission required disclosure statement:

Transferability of Credits

“Credits earned at The Massage Institute of Memphis may not transfer to another educational institution. Credits earned at another educational institution may not be accepted by The Massage Institute of Memphis. You should obtain confirmation that The Massage Institute of Memphis will accept any credits you have earned at another educational institution before you execute an enrollment contract or agreement. You should also contact any educational institutions that you may want to transfer credits earned at The Massage Institute of Memphis to determine if such institutions will accept credits earned at The Massage Institute of Memphis prior to executing an enrollment contract or agreement. The ability to transfer credits from The Massage Institute of Memphis to another educational institution may be very limited. Your credits may not transfer and you may have to repeat courses previously taken at The Massage Institute of Memphis if you enroll in another educational institution. You should never assume that credits will transfer to or from any educational institution. It is highly recommended and you are advised to make certain that you know the transfer of credit policy of The Massage Institute of Memphis and of any other educational institutions you may in the future want to transfer the credits earned at The Massage Institute of Memphis before you execute an enrollment contract or agreement.”

At the time of enrollment the student will be required to read and sign a copy of the above statement.
